President of Montenegro Addresses Citizens Ahead of Historic EU–Western Balkans Summit:
“Dear citizens,
On June 5, Montenegro will bring Europe together.
In the year in which we celebrate 20 years since the restoration of our independence, Montenegro will host the European Union – Western Balkans Summit, a historic meeting of the leaders of the European Union and our region, and the first event of this level in the history of our country.
Preparations are in full swing. All competent institutions, services, and teams are engaged responsibly and with dedication to ensure that we are a worthy host of such an important international gathering.
This is a strong confirmation of Montenegro’s international reputation and proof that our country is today recognized as a reliable partner, a state that, through its European path and responsible policies, contributes to the stability, cooperation, and European perspective of the entire region.
The Summit will be an opportunity to send a clear message: that the future of the Western Balkans lies within the European Union, and that Montenegro, as the frontrunner in European integration, wants, should, and must become the next member state of the European Union.
I am confident that on June 5 Montenegro will stand as a symbol of unity, partnership, and European perspective and that we will demonstrate not only that we belong to Europe, but that we are ready to welcome Europe and leaders such as President Macron, Chancellor Merz, Prime Minister Sánchez, Prime Minister Meloni, President Costa, President von der Leyen, and all other leaders from across the European Union and our region right here, in Montenegro.
